Applicable visas: 491, 190, 189
The occupations lists for Skilled visas will change in response to Covid-19. This means you may have a Skills Assessment which is no longer relevant.
You may have many questions, like: What will the occupation lists be in the future? How often will they change? When will they change?
State and Territory governments can change their policies at any time. This means the points required for 491 and 190 visas can change.
189 visas will have very limited occupations and require higher than legislated 65 points. These will primarily be available for those onshore in Australia unless listed in the Priority Migration Skilled Occupation List (PMSOL).
What is the difference between 190 and 491 visa?
Applying for the Skilled Nominated 190 visa and the Skilled Work Regional 491 visa is very similar.
The major difference is the occupations available to the different visas, as well as the requirement to be in a regional area.
Our Federal government provides specific numbers of 491 and 190 visas to State and Territory governments to nominate.
There is no guarantee you will be invited by the Department of Home Affairs (DHA) to lodge an application even if you achieve the passmark.
